Instructor Bios

Head Instructor John Fleming

Mr. Fleming began his Shorin Ryu karate training at the OSAKI Dojo of Grand Prairie, under Sensei Bill Carroll, where he continued to train until moving to Tyler, Texas in 2007.  Unable to locate another OSAKI school nearby, Mr. Fleming made the switch to Matsumura Seito Shorin Ryu when he joined the ranks at the Tyler Karate Academy in 2008.  Having proven his dedication, Mr. Fleming was invited to Okinawa in the Spring of 2010 where he spent time in intensive training with both Hanshi Fusei Kise and Kaicho Isao Kise before being promoted to ShoDan (black belt) at the Hombu Dojo in Okinawa, Japan.

Dai Sempai Chris Carroll

Mr. Carroll began his training in 1993 in Goju Shorei. He cross trained in several styles of martial arts over the next decade before taking a short break from training. In 2005, Mr. Carroll rejoined the martial arts world after enrolling in the Okinawan Karate Club of Springfield, an OSMKKF school in Springfield, IL. In 2006, Mr. Carroll moved to Dallas, TX. Mr. Carroll began training with Sensei Paul Wilson of White Rock Kenshinkan. Mr. Carroll continued his training with Sensei Wilson until 2012 when a tragic turn of fate ripped Sensei Wilson from his beloved students. Dai Sempai Chris teaches the kids and beginners classes and assists Head Instructor John Fleming in the advanced classes.
